As Denny Hamlin crossed the finish line to win his first race of the season at Homestead, Jimmie Johnson finished well enough to win his sixth championship.
Johnson was one of the most dominant drivers in the 2013 season, and now that he's won his sixth title, he's even closer to being as good as the greatest drivers to ever race in NASCAR.
The 48 team has clearly set the standards for other teams and drivers, and it's hard to deny that Johnson is the top driver in NASCAR right now.
Six-Time and the 48 team will look to come back even stronger next season, as Johnson tries to tie Dale Earnhardt and Richard Petty for the most championships in NASCAR.
As for the winner of Homestead, Denny Hamlin, his win was a huge boost of momentum for the 11 team. They've struggled all season, and with Hamlin being hurt with a back injury, they never saw victory lane. to rally back and win the last race of the season is huge for the 11 team, and should help them come back strong next season.
We've seen the debut of a new car this season and saw a Chase which had 13 drivers competing for the championship.
And while the Chase came down to the top two drivers in the sport this year, Jimmie Johnson emerged as the champion after Homestead, and continues to be the most dominating driver in NASCAR.
